Mechanical Engineer - Aerospace

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our workforce. The candidate should hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and be familiar with the undertakings of aerospace manufacturing. Principle Responsibilities:

  • Designing fabrication fixtures, proof-load fixtures, holding fixtures, assembly tooling, and reverse engineering.
  • Mentoring by instructing manufacturing personnel on the application of GD&T.
  • Assisting with the manufacturing floor issue resolution.
  • Assisting Estimators with producibility improvement recommendations as needed.
  • Preparing and presenting material condition reports to support appeals to customer material review boards.
  • Preparing and presenting conceptual designs for potential Intellectual Property initiatives.
  • Conform to all requirements of Seyer Industries Quality System and any and all customer invoked quality requirements (AS9100, for example).
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with 5S standards.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and working with customers
  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Familiar with welding, hydraulics, mechanical assemblies
  • Familiar with aerospace manufacturing activities
  • Current knowledge of latest manufacturing technology
  • Basic understanding of metallurgy
  • Experience with reverse engineering
  • Close attention to Detail
  • Consistent and dependable attendance

Specific Technical Requirements:

  • Strong experience with, and exposure to, GD&T
  • Excellent skills with SOLIDWORKS and CATIA
  • Exposure to, and experience with, flight-critical hardware and components in a manufacturing environment
  • Tooling design experience
  • Experience with Model-Based Definition
  • Strong engineering drawing / specification skills (read, interpret and create)
  • MRB experience
  • Familiar with inspection methods
